What is a Homebuyer Coach?
Your HUD certified Homebuyer Coach is your guide, your advocate, and your biggest cheerleader. This is someone from Acts Housing who makes sure you have everything you need to succeed in homeownership.
Your coach will:
- Assess your financial readiness and create a personalized action plan
- Help you understand every step of the home buying process
- Help you find the right product for you from lenders, sellers, or contractors
- Strategize with you to get into the best financial position possible
- Celebrate with you when you get your keys
Your Path to Homeownership

Start a Virtual Orientation
Start with our Virtual Homebuyer Orientation to learn how the program works, and understand the timeline. You’ll pay a one-time fee of either $38.00 for individuals or $75.00 per household (2 people) for your credit report—this officially enrolls you in the program.

Meet Your Homebuyer Coach
In your first coaching session, you’ll review your finances together. Your coach will assess your readiness and, if needed, create a Financial Action Plan to help you prepare. You’ll work together until you’re ready to buy.

Create Your Plan
Your Homebuyer Coach will help you create a path to homeownership that works for you. Your coach will walk with you every step of the way.

Get Pre-Approved for a Loan
Your Homebuyer Coach will help you find the best loan product for your situation. If you can’t get pre-approved for a traditional loan, Acts Lending could be an option.

Move On to Real Estate
ou have completed coaching and are pre approved for a mortgage. It’s time to find a great Realtor to start shopping for your home.

Fast-Track Option for Pre-Approved Buyers
If your lender referred you to Acts Housing for homebuyer coaching and you’re already pre-approved, you can complete your First-Time Homebuyer Certification through our Home Buyer Education courses.
Important: Avoid Homebuying Scams
Acts Housing will never ask you to send money before completing our homebuyer program (except the credit report fee at orientation). If you receive a text, call, or email claiming you’re pre-approved for a loan or need to make a down payment early, do not send money or documents.
