The cost of rent made Israel and Odilia want to become homeowners. They were paying $875 a month in rent. Today, they pay $200 less a month to own their own home.
Israel and Odilia are humble, family-oriented people who are focused on their home and their family. “Our kid will most likely inherit the home, but he must learn the value and sacrifice we made to get it.” They are grateful to have something they can pass down to the next generation.
Their favorite part of their home is the kitchen, that’s where they spend most of their time. That’s also where they did most of their renovation. They focused much of their renovation and energy on the kitchen because, as Israel puts it, “the kitchen is the most important part of our home.”
When they first came to Acts Housing, they did not know anything about the program. “We went to the office ignorant and not knowing anything about purchasing a home. After orientation, we felt more knowledgeable about the program. We are very happy and blessed to have this property.” Not only is homeownership important to them, but they also want to share their great experience with friends and family. “We give everyone Maria’s [Acts family experience manager’s] business card”
Israel and Odilia are most excited to not have to pay rent anymore. Instead, their payments are a direct investment into the home that they own. That makes a big difference and is a source of pride for them and countless other Acts homeowners.
Thank you Israel and Odilia for your investment!
