When Ana Trinidad became pregnant with her fourth child, is when her and her husband Jose, began their rehab project with Acts. Understandably, she was nervous about the timing of taking on such a large project. But she thought, “We’ve wanted this for so long. We just have to go for it. And I’m so glad we did!”.
After years of applying for a traditional mortgage loan, only to be rejected, time and time again, they were elated to find out about the homebuying program at Acts. Like many, they immediately thought there was a catch, “I couldn’t believe it at first. It sounded too good, too perfect. But it was true, they really do help you!”, exclaimed Jose. After seeing other family members successfully go through the program, they knew it was the perfect path to homeownership for them.
They were on a mission to complete their rehab and move into their home before baby #4 arrived. This meant many long nights and weekends. This meant saying NO to family parties and get together, and even asking family members to help out with parts of the rehab. Their home was move-in ready by October and Baby Magdalena was born in November 2019, just in time to enjoy Christmas in her new home with her loving family! Mission accomplished!
Since finishing their rehab and enjoying the pride of homeownership, Jose and Ana have recommended the Acts program to at least 20 other families. They are upfront with the sweat equity that their new home will require, but emphasize the feeling of satisfaction afterwards, “I tell them that it’s gonna be a lot of work, but it’s so worth it.” Jose continued, “Look at us now, we’re in our own house and not renting anymore. It’s such a great feeling, and I want them to feel that way too!”.
